A
Porter's saddle is made the traditional way on a wood/steel tree
crafted by Jeff Freeman.
Strained with seat belt webbing, it
allows 'give' to the rider and ensures a more comfortable seat than
a solid tree.
Jeff's vast experience and knowledge
in hand- crafting saddle trees enables him to tailor-make trees
to suit any horse's wither measurement.

: HOW TO TAKE A WITHER MEASUREMENT
.
: A - Horse
must be standing on level ground.
.
: B - Take
a piece of wire (coat hanger wire is suitable) approximately 15
inches long (38cm). Bend
the wire over the horse's wither so it runs down each side at least
6 inches (15cm) behind the shoulder blades where the front of the
saddle would sit.
.
: C - Place the wire onto card-board
and trace the shape. Cut around it leaving a straight edge between
the bottom of the tracing ends.
.
: D - If possible, take some
photos of your horse looking from the side , from behind and above
the horse's tail looking forward to the wither as this will give
us an idea of its wither and back shape.
.
: E
- Post
the cardboard cut-out and photos to Porter's Saddles & Tack. |
